I was in search of Sensei Oyama's dojo. When I got off the train I asked everyone if they knew the Sensei. I found at a fire station that his dojo was not far from there. When I got to the dojo there was no one on the first floor. I went up the outside stairs and knocked on the the door. Sensei Oyama answered, looked at me for what seemed an eternity and asked what I wanted. After my initial aprehension I ask Sensie Oyama if I could be one of his pupils. He looked at me and said come back Monday. My train trip was 1 1/2 hours. I told him thank you and that I would be back. I did go back and in 1964-1965 I trained at the dojo. I remember running the streets in our gi's barefoot and training long hours. I will never forget the training I received and have always considered it an honor to have been able to train with the Master.
